On Feb. 10 and Feb 11, 2024, Kodo Cultural Foundation held Exadon Workshops and a Exadon Facilitator Certification Renewal Seminar.

Feb. 10, 2024 (Sat): Exadon Workshop in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki

Kodo Cultural Foundation held an Exadon Workshop in Tsubaki City, Ibaraki Prefecture. The participants in the workshops included members from taiko groups to which graduates from the Exadon Facilitator Training Course belonged.

The group members ranged in age from elementary school students to those in their 80s.

Exadon values mutual recognition, respect, and compassion. These feelings are also important factors when playing taiko. I hope that through the Exadon workshop, participants were able to feel not only the importance of making one sound, but also the importance of feeling each other's feelings and uniting our hearts. Each had a different background in taiko, and it was impressive to see how well they got along.

Feb. 11, 2024 (Sun): Exadon Workshop and Exadon Facilitator Certification Renewal Seminar at Suwando - Saitama Super Arena

The Exadon workshop held at the taiko studio ‘Suwando’ was also attended by a wide variety of people, including taiko team members, people who had never played taiko before, students, and those who work in the school industry.

Everyone seemed nervous at first, but as they played taiko and games together, they naturally grew closer, enjoyed talking with each other during the break times. Not only did they beat the taiko as hard as they could, but they also listened to each other's sounds, laughed a lot, supported each other at times, and it really felt like everyone's hearts became one.

In the afternoon, there was a ‘Certification Renewal Seminar,’ that was held for those who had completed the Exadon Facilitator Training Course.

In the session, we reviewed the philosophy, purpose, and development goals of Exadon. There was also a lecture by Dr. Morimoto, an Occupational Physician and co-developer of Exadon.

The participants practiced skills for playing taiko drums to improve their knowledge and techniques. Questions and opinions were exchanged throughout the session, and it was a productive time, generating not only what had been learned so far, but also tips and ideas for practical application.

Everyone who participated in the Exadon workshops and seminars seemed to become energized within their mind and body, and the facilitators were able to be themselves during the session, beating the taiko with the participants. We hope to continue working with the facilitators to promote Exadon so that it can further spread and be held in many places in Japan and around the world.
